Friday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Gospel John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30
Jesus moved about within Galilee;
he did not wish to travel in Judea,
because the Jews were trying to kill him.
But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.

But when his brothers had gone up to the feast,
he himself also went up, not openly but as it were in secret.

Some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said,
“Is he not the one they are trying to kill?
And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him.
Could the authorities have realized that he is the Christ?
But we know where he is from.
When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.”
So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said,
“You know me and also know where I am from.
Yet I did not come on my own,
but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”
So they tried to arrest him,
but no one laid a hand upon him,
because his hour had not yet come.

Saturday of the Third Week of Easter

Saturday of the Third Week of Easter
Based on John 6:60-69

Many of the disciples of Jesus who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”
Since Jesus knew His disciples were murmuring about this,
He said to them, “Does this shock you? What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before? It is the Spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.
And He said,
For this reason I have told you that no one can come to Me unless it is granted him by my Father.”
As a result of this, many of His disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer walked with him.
Jesus than said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?”
Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”

What do you believe? What do you feel?Image
